The proposed site is Located in Huanghu Town , Yuhang District, Hangzhou. There are many tourist attractions nearby. This 180 acre site has a buildable area of 3.46 acre which being divided into two lots. The land has lush vegetation and rich water resources.
The design strategy is to preserve the existing natural scape as much as possible.
The buildings on Lot A and B are linked by pavilions, corridors, decks, creeks and vegetation. The objective is to create and show the poetic charm of nature, to draw people away from the maddening crowds in the city and to seek contentment and peace in nature.
The planning of this resort draws inspiration from traditional Chinese Garden. A lake runs north and south being the main axis of the site. Hotel guest visiting routes are mostly winding naturally along the water or in the bamboo forest. The gate of the resort is located at North. By the east side of the entrance is the hotel parking lot surrounded by an osmanthus trees and shrubs field
The main hotel inner road runs north and south linking Lot A and Lot B. On one side of this road there is a rice field, an herb garden and a fruit plantation that stretches to the horizon. Outdoor snack bar and other activity points are linked by numbers of footpath between fields. At the other side of this main road is a tranquil water lake. Along the water side, we designed a water pavilion, viewing platform and a small dock as resting places and meeting points. It reflects a way of appreciating a traditional Chinese Garden which is watching in Motion and Observing Fixedly.
The design of the building on Lot A takes on a curved shape harmoniously blends into the surrounding mountain scape. On the roof top of this building we created an elevated light steel structure viewing platform. It gives a panoramic view of the entire resort. It also echo with the south viewing platform by the water at a distance.
Further south, the lake becomes more secluded. Hotel guests can fishing in this area and enjoy the tranquility of outdoor life.
The resort also features a children playground which including Six Senses’ signature “Water Lab” and other creative, inspiring and playful facilities.
There are two path winding in the bamboo forest at different height linking between Lot A which holds the reception and All Day Dining restaurant and Lot B where most of the guest rooms are. One of the path also connects several tree houses in the forest.
At the north east of the site, after walking pass a creek and climb up serval steps, there is a small a wedding chapel is designed amidst a Rose Muhly field.
Out landscape design strategy for this project is be moderate and constrained. One of our goal is to keep the boundary between water surface and the earth to be natural and soft. Different texture and grain size of gravel are proposed for most of the outdoor circulation path. Limited quantity of outdoor weather resistant wood, wood chip, metal mesh and stone is also proposed.
This design ensures a seamless blend of nature and luxury, offering guests an immersive retreat that respects the land while delivering a unique, culturally rooted experience. We hope to create an environment that allow guests ultimately reconnect with themselves, with others and the world around.
