A south and north major access path connects the courtyard guest houses, semi-detached guest houses and the main hotel building. Several east and west trails leading to an elevated viewing pavilion, a specialty restaurant and other functional small scale buildings. Standard Guest rooms and major functional spaces are all located in the Main hotel building.
The architecture form of this building draws inspiration from the typical residential courtyard house typology in West ZheJiang Longyou region. Enclosure, Setback, Borrowing Scenery are the design language and method we used in this project. Our design gives a modern interpretation of these concepts in spatial organization.
The standard guest rooms in the main hotel building are organized on both sides of the mountain ridge. Rooms on each floor cascades down from the ridge. Each unit has a private terrace which maximize the opportunity to un obstructively viewing the beautiful mountain scenery without sacrificing privacy.
In the main building, we created three courtyards and two outdoor terraces at different levels. Upon entering the hotel lobby, natural light floods down and makes glittering sparkles on the shallow water surface in the courtyard. Another courtyard is along the guest room corridor. Green plants and flowers are introduced into this space. It makes the journey walking down the corridor more pleasant and interesting. The third courtyard is located at B1 level. Outdoor courtyards and terraces on various floors creates interesting spatial dialogues and natural lighting effect. The spatial sequence unfolds gradually—concealed first, then revealed—with layered progression, where interior and exterior spaces visually interweave, enhancing the sense of discovery while making the boundaries between inside and outside more ambiguous and poetic.
- An all-day Dining restaurant is at the highest floor with outdoor dining terrace.
- An infinity pool is located on the same floor.
- SPA and fitness facilities are situated on the B1 level.
- Natural light filters in through the sunken courtyard, adding dynamism to the space without compromising functionality.
- The conference facilities are placed before arriving the hotel main entrance for easy access and minimizing interference with other guests.
- Material selection prioritizes locally sourced elements, with stone, rammed earth, tiles, and wood, steel as the primary building materials.
